Choral Adjudicators Course

The Choral Adjudicators course is offered periodically during the MMEA/ACDA annual convention.

Criteria for Adjudicator Applicants: To be listed as an adjudicator for choral, ensemble, and sight reading categories an individual must meet the following eligibility requirements:

 Required for all adjudicator applicants:

  • Education Component: Must hold a degree in Music Education or Music Performance

  • Professional Membership Component: Must be a current active or retired member of NAfME/MMEA – (For Mississippi applicants only.)

  • Training Component: Must attend an Adjudicator Training Workshop once every 5 years.  A yearly adjudicator fee of $25.00 will be due each year in order to remain on the list of eligible adjudicators.

Additional Components: (Non-retired applicants must meet at least 1 of the following additional components.)

  • Successful Teaching Component: Must have 3 out of 5 years of consecutive years of teaching with superior ratings at district and/or state performance evaluations 

(Disclaimer: Superior sight reading ratings do not satisfy this component.)

  • Professional Component: Must conduct a collegiate, public/private school choral music choir, an after-school choir such as a boys’ choir/girls’ choir, community choir, church choir etc…

 

Upon completion of these criteria, the MMEA Adjudicators Committee will forward an application for your completion and return.

Regulations mandate every “Approved” adjudicator to attend a subsequent certification clinic, once every five years in order to remain on the “Approved” listing.
